Mr. Kagan handles civil disputes from their inception through trial. He represents individuals, local companies, and large corporations in state and federal courts, and has prepared, argued, and won a number of key demurrers and summary judgment motions on behalf of his clients. Mr. Kagan was a law clerk at HFM while in law school, became a post-bar law clerk at HFM after sitting for the bar exam. Upon successful bar passage, Mr. Kagan was promoted to an Associate Attorney. As a post-bar law clerk at HFM, Mr. Kagan provided litigation support in a four-week traumatic brain injury trial. Prior to his time with HFM, in law school Mr. Kagan served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Jan M. Adler (ret.), Presiding Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Southern of California. He also served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Richard E.L. Strauss in the San Diego Superior Court.
Mr. Kagan was selected to the 2021 Best Lawyers in America© “Ones to Watch” list, recognizing lawyers who have been in private practice between five and ten years. This award highlights the most promising younger lawyers in the country.
He is actively involved with his law school, California Western School of Law, serving on the school’s Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, and serves as a mentor to new 1L students each year.
