Mr. Kagan started his legal career as a Case Assistant for Higgs Fletcher & Mack where he managed case files in a variety of substantive areas, including tort, labor and employment, business litigation, tax, and trusts and estates.  Mr. Kagan’s experience also included time as a Law Clerk for the U.S. Department of Justice Office of the U.S. Trustee, as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable Richard E.L. Strauss in the San Diego Superior Court, and as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Jan M. Adler in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.  In these roles, Mr. Kagan conducted a wide range of legal research, drafted numerous research memoranda, and assisted attorneys with various issues arising in ongoing cases.  In these roles, Mr. Kagan observed numerous civil and bankruptcy court proceedings, as well as creditor meetings.  More recently, Mr. Kagan was a Clinical Intern at Higgs and, following his graduation in April 2015, was promoted to Post-Bar Law Clerk where he was immediately put to work assisting in the defense of a three-week traumatic brain injury trial.

Mr. Kagan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Spanish from the University of Arizona.  He obtained his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law where he graduated receiving the Academic Excellence Award in Alternative Dispute Resolution, and was a member of the Public Service Honors Society.  In addition, Mr. Kagan was an Associate Editor and Writer for the California Western Law Review and California Western International Law Journal.
