Joseph Kagan’s business litigation practice centers on product liability, insurance, personal injury, transportation, and business disputes.
Mr. Kagan handles civil disputes from their inception through trial.
Mr. Kagan represents individuals, local companies, and large corporations in state and federal courts, and has prepared, argued, and won a number of key demurrers and summary judgment motions on behalf of his clients. Mr. Kagan has also successfully defended cases brought against product manufacturers, transportation companies, and premises owners, restaurants, and hotels/resorts.
Mr. Kagan was a law clerk at HFM while in law school, became a post-bar law clerk at HFM after sitting for the bar exam. Upon successful bar passage, Mr. Kagan was promoted to an Associate Attorney. As a post-bar law clerk at HFM, Mr. Kagan provided litigation support in a four-week traumatic brain injury trial. Prior to his time with HFM, in law school Mr. Kagan served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Jan M. Adler (ret.), Presiding Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Southern of California. He also served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Richard E.L. Strauss in the San Diego Superior Court.
Mr. Kagan is actively involved with his law school, California Western School of Law, serving on the school’s Alumni Association’s Board of Directors. Mr. Kagan also serves as a mentor to new 1L students each year.
