Kate Martin joined Higgs Fletcher & Mack in 2005, specializing in Health Care litigation. In 2008, Ms. Martin relocated to San Francisco where she continued her civil litigation practice, specializing in all aspects of professional liability defense.
Ms. Martin returned home to San Diego and to Higgs Fletcher & Mack in 2011. The focus of her practice continues to be the defense of businesses and individuals in all phases of civil litigation. Ms. Martin is admitted to practice in all California state and federal courts.
Ms. Martin has a wide range of litigation experience, including general civil, business, class action, healthcare, public entity and transportation law. Ms. Martin has extensive experience in the development and execution of effective defense strategies throughout all stages of litigation. Recently, she successfully defended one of the State’s largest school districts in a three-week jury trial. Ms. Martin also represents clients at arbitrations and administrative proceedings.
Ms. Martin graduated from the University of San Diego magna cum laude, with a dual major in political science and communications.
Based on her undergraduate performance and leadership in the community, Ms. Martin was awarded a full academic scholarship to attend California Western School of Law. Graduating with honors in 2005, Ms. Martin was also recognized nationally as part of the school’s Mock Trial team and received numerous American Jurisprudence awards.
