Partner Loren Freestone represents and advises small, medium and large employers, corporations, and healthcare practitioners in employment disputes, litigation and trial. This includes representing clients in employment-related litigation involving claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment, and wage and hour violations. Mr. Freestone also provides needed counseling to employers on employment-related issues and claims, and has represented employers involving employment-related civil restraining orders.
Mr. Freestone has successfully argued cases at the Court of Appeal. Mr. Freestone’s efforts have resulted in published appellate decisions, including Bennett v. Shahall (1999) 75 Cal.App.4th 384, and Palmer v. Superior Court (2002) 103 Cal.App.4th 953, in favor of Higgs Fletcher & Mack clients.
Mr. Freestone received his bachelor degrees (two) from UCLA, and his law degree from the University of San Diego. He was trained by the best in legal advocacy and civility. He was a judicial extern for Associate Justice Judith L. Haller of the Fourth District Court of Appeal, and as a new lawyer, was trained by Hon. Gregory W. Pollack.
Mr. Freestone is actively involved and respected within the legal community. He is the President of the San Diego County Bar Association (“SDCBA”). He was elected by his peers to the SDCBA’s Board of Directors in late 2013 and previously served as the SDCBA’s Secretary and President-Elect. Mr. Freestone is the former chair of the SDCBA’s Ethnic Relations and Diversity Committee, former chair of the SDCBA’s Diversity Fellowship Program, and is a past board member of the Tom Homann Law Association.
From 2014 through 2017, Mr. Freestone has been selected as a “Super Lawyer®.” Each year, no more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research committee at Super Lawyers to receive the prestigious designation. Mr. Freestone was also prestigiously named to the San Diego Business Journal’s “Best of the Bar” list for 2016.
