Certified Trusts and Estates Specialist Brian Tsu Joins Higgs Fletcher & Mack

Attorney Brian Tsu has joined Higgs Fletcher & Mack as the firm’s newest Partner, strengthening the firm’s trusts and estates practice.

In addition to being an attorney, Tsu is a certified public accountant. He has over 15 years of experience in advising high net worth clients on domestic and international estate and charitable planning. He has particular expertise in domestic and international business succession planning, wealth transfer planning and fiduciary income taxation. His practice also includes working with clients on tax-sensitive estate and trust administrations. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and was certified by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization, as a Certified Specialist in both Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law and Taxation Law.

Tsu’s leadership and volunteerism includes serving as Vice Chair of the Estate and Gift Taxes Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation and serving on the Taxation Executive Committee of the California Lawyers Association. In addition, Tsu is a member of the YMCA of San Diego County Gift Planning Advisors’ Council and is part of the Executive Board of STEP San Diego. He is also a frequent speaker and lecturer at various programs presented locally and across the country, including those by the American Bar Association, California Lawyers Association, ALI-CLE as well as various estate planning councils, among others.

Prior to joining Higgs Fletcher & Mack, Tsu was a Partner at Henderson, Caverly & Pum LLP. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College, a Master of Science in Professional Accounting from Seton Hall University, a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Dayton School of Law, and an LL.M. degree in Taxation from Northwestern University School of Law. Tsu is licensed to practice law in both Illinois and California.
