SAN DIEGO – July 27, 2016 – Attorney Derek Paradis of Higgs Fletcher & Mack, a San Diego-based, full-service law firm for more than 75 years, was recently elected to the San Diego County Hotel-Motel Association’s Board of Directors.

The term is for three years where he and others leading the organization will help address issues facing the region’s hospitality market.

“I am excited for the opportunity to give back to the industry that has given me so much in my career,” said Paradis. “The San Diego Hotel-Motel Association offers its members resources and communication on education, technology, human relations and other matters. The organization also provides advocacy and representation on legislative and regulatory issues at all levels of government. I look forward to doing my part.”

Since graduating from Thomas Jefferson School of Law as valedictorian in 2009, Paradis has been successful in handling a wide range of litigation and transactional matters; from wage and hour class actions to employment discrimination cases. While his clients often include hotels, restaurants, bars and nightclubs, Paradis works with a wide array of businesses on employment issues such as wrongful termination, wage and hour class actions, harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, intentional business torts, fraudulent transfers and unfair competition. He was nominated for the 2011 San Diego Daily Transcript’s “Young Attorneys” award, which recognizes the area’s most promising associates.

“Derek is fast becoming one of the area’s best known attorneys for all issues related to this market, so his election to the San Diego Hotel-Motel Association’s Board of Directors is no surprise,” said John Morrell, Managing Partner of Higgs Fletcher & Mack. “His openminded approach and determination to creatively find the best solution for clients will serve him well in this role. We’re delighted for him!”
