Governor Appoints Higgs Fletcher & Mack Partner Loren Freestone as Superior Court Judge

SAN DIEGO – July 24, 2018 – Higgs Fletcher & Mack (HFM), a San Diego-based, full-service law firm, announced today that California Governor Jerry Brown appointed HFM Partner Loren Freestone as a San Diego Superior Court Judge.

“We congratulate Loren on his appointment to the bench. It is an honor to have one of our attorneys appointed as a judge and this speaks to the depth of talent we have here at Higgs Fletcher & Mack,” said HFM Managing Partner Steve Cologne. “We make a point of hiring and cultivating the best lawyers in order to provide superior client service. Having yet another one of our team appointed as a judge speaks directly to that principle.”

At HFM, Freestone represented and advised small, medium and large employers, corporations, and healthcare practitioners in employment disputes, litigation and trial.

Freestone is the immediate past president of the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) and was elected by his peers to the SDCBA’s Board of Directors in late 2013.  He previously served as the SDCBA’s Secretary and President-Elect.  Freestone is the former chair of the SDCBA’s Ethnic Relations and Diversity Committee, former chair of the SDCBA’s Diversity Fellowship Program, and is a past board member of the Tom Homann Law Association.

From 2014 through 2018, Freestone has been selected as a “Super Lawyer®.” Each year, no more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research committee at Super Lawyers to receive the prestigious designation. Freestone was also named to the San Diego Business Journal’s “Best of the Bar” list for 2016.

Freestone is the ninth HFM attorney to be appointed to the bench. Including Freestone, five HFM attorneys have been past presidents of the San Diego County Bar Association.
