Each year since 2007, the San Diego County Bar Association organizes a spring basketball league. This year, 15 teams competed in two divisions at San Diego High School on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Teammates included judges, commissioners, attorneys and law students rubbing elbows on the court.
Team “HFM” has been participating since 2013 with the firm’s Employment Law and Business Litigation attorney, Edwin Boniske, leading the squad as its captain. The 2013 and 2014 seasons resulted in championships and the team had high hopes to secure another title this year. HFM ended the season in a tie for first place with a record of 10-2. Unfortunately, the team lost in the semi-finals to Delt Law.
“We love to play basketball, and it’s a great way to stay active,” shared Boniske. “Our quest to bring home another championship will resume next spring.”
Aside from Boniske, members of the 2016 HFM team included Geoff Thorne, Jim Peterson, John Nielsen, Roger Clayton and Josh Katz. Participants from past seasons include Brian Cook, Victor Pippins, Sam Baxter, Maggie Schroedter, Shaka Johnson and others.
