SAN DIEGO (October 4, 2022): Higgs Fletcher & Mack (HFM) is proud to welcome three new attorneys: Mariana Acedo, Koryn K. Sheppard and Ryan M. Simone. Acedo is a part of the Corporate & Securities Law and Real Estate Law Practice Groups, Sheppard has joined the Family Law Practice Group and Simone will practice as a part of the Firm’s Healthcare Law and Business Litigation Practice Groups.

Acedo brings a variety of transactional experience to the Firm, including work on cross-border transactions, business formation, filings and restructuring, drafting operating agreements and resolutions. Her experience also includes work on mergers and acquisitions, conducting corporate maintenance and assisting with commercial real estate matters, including representing clients in overseas investments. Acedo is licensed to practice law both in the state of California and in Mexico, and she earned her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law.

Sheppard is a Certified Family Law Specialist, a designation from the State Bar of California earned by a small percentage of attorneys throughout the state. Earlier in her career, Sheppard became a Minor’s Counsel, which required specialized training allowing her to represent children in family law cases. She also has considerable experience handling divorces for military families. Sheppard earned her Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law.

A trial lawyer, Simone’s experience includes complex civil litigation, catastrophic personal injury including traumatic brain injury, and construction-defect litigation. Simone has advised, negotiated, and advocated for numerous policyholders in insurance coverage litigation disputes against insurers. He has also practiced bad faith insurance litigation, environmental and toxic tort litigation, as well as general business and commercial litigation. Simone earned his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law.
