Higgs Fletcher & Mack’s Managing Partner Announces New Executive Team

– Steve Cologne’s leadership group brings a century of C-level leadership to firm –

SAN DIEGO – June 22, 2017 – Steve Cologne, Managing Partner of Higgs Fletcher & Mack, a San Diego-based, full-service law firm for more than 75 years, announced today his new executive team.

The group brings nearly a century of C-level leadership to the firm.

“The team is exceptional and will enable us to optimize firm resources most effectively and efficiently,” said Cologne. “We have the industry’s best group of seasoned executives working together with one goal in mind: empower our attorneys to take care of our clients now and well into the future. I’m excited for what these leaders will be able to accomplish.”

The executive team consists of:

Sherrie Lyn Thompson
Sherrie-Lyn Thompson,
Director of Business Development

Thompson works with the managing partner, the attorneys and executive team members on reaching into new markets, further expanding its current markets, expanding operations and solving organizational problems. She came to Higgs this month after serving as the executive vice president and chief operating officer at LEAD San Diego, one of the oldest and most prestigious community leadership non-profit organizations. Prior to joining LEAD San Diego, Thompson was the education program officer and later the chief of staff at the University of California San Diego, San Diego Dialogue, a regional public affairs program that advances solutions to the San Diego and Baja California cross-border region’s challenges in economy, environment and equity with the goal of improving our region’s quality of life through cross-border development, smart growth and school reform. She earned her bachelor’s of arts degree in criminology and legal studies from the University of California, Irvine, and a master’s of arts in political science from the University of Akron.

Karen Lemmon
Karen Lemmon,
Director of Operations

Lemmon’s areas of responsibility include facilities management, vendor relations, intern program, library services, disaster preparedness and other projects/processes not falling under the purview of the other executive team members. She is a graduate of San Diego State University, University of San Diego and Thomas Jefferson School of Law with more than a decade of experience in law firm management. Lemmon is also the president-elect of the San Diego Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, a director of the San Diego Legal Administrators Foundation and is active in many local community and charitable groups.

Tina Brunhart
Tina Brunhart,
Director of Human Resources

Brunhart is bolstering Higgs’ commitment to placing clients first through her leadership, attracting and developing the best talent and enhancing a culture of engagement, agility and innovation. Previously, she served as the HR Director for Inseego Corp., Director of the HR Shared Services Center within URS Corporation, and as an HR/Benefits Manager with DLA Piper Rudnick and Arent Fox Law Firms. Brunhart also served in the U.S. Air Force achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was recognized as a U.S.A.F. Outstanding Personnel Manager of the Year. Brunhart earned a bachelor’s of science degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.

Ray Moore
Ray Moore,
Director of Information Technology

Moore has worked in information technology in the legal industry for 20 years, and through those years he has successfully navigated law firms through challenges of all different sizes and scopes, from electronic records transitions to cloud migrations to virtual desktop implementations. He is an active member of the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA), currently serving as the organization’s Member Liaison for San Diego. Moore earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with concentration in accountancy from National University, where he also studied economics. He brings a unique approach to technology management and business strategy, and has been a proven leader in the practical application of technology innovation and adoption.

Sierra Osquist
Sierra Osquist,
Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting

Osquist has been connected with Higgs Fletcher & Mack since 2008. She oversees the day-to-day op-erations of the accounting department, manages the firm’s budget, spearheads the strategic budget and forecasting duties, directs Higgs’ collections processes, prepares and produces month-to-date and year-to-date financial statements, and analyzes attorney production and profitability. As an integral part of the firm and proven leader, Osquist managed the implementation of several innovative applications, including the firm’s legal billing software. Previously, she served as the Staff Financial Analyst for Corporate Legal and Litigation with the mobile technology pioneer Qualcomm Inc. Osquist earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accountancy from Troy State University.

Lisa Berry
Lisa Berry, Executive Legal Secretary

Berry has been a legal secretary in San Diego for over 30 years. She has been employed by Higgs since 1999 and previously worked 11 years with the law firm of McInnis, Fitzgerald, Rees & Sharkey. Berry has been a member of the San Diego Legal Secretaries Association since 1993. In 1997, through self-study, she earned the designation as a California Certified Legal Secretary, the only legal secretary at Higgs with this designation. The Daily Transcript listed her as a finalist for its San Diego Legal Secretaries honors in 2009.
