SAN DIEGO November 15, 2016 Higgs Fletcher & Mack, a San Diego-based, full-service law firm for more than 75 years, announced that its partner and business litigation attorney, Mary Robberson, was elected to the Board of Directors for ALFA International.

Founded in 1980, ALFA International was the first global legal network and continues to be considered the premier network of its kind. The organization is made up of member law firms worldwide, which serve as a referral network for each other. ALFA boasts over 150 member firms throughout the world. Within the U.S., there are 80 U.S. firms as members which maintain offices in 95 of the 100 largest metropolitan areas. Abroad, ALFA’s 70 international firms are located throughout Europe, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Africa, Canada, Mexico and South America.

“ALFA is a reputable organization that Higgs has been a member of for more than 36 years,” said Henry Angelino, executive director at Higgs Fletcher & Mack. “Mary will make an excellent addition to their board and we’re thrilled to have her representing Higgs.”

Robberson joined the firm in 1997 and her business litigation practice includes commercial litigation, cross-border litigation involving Spanish speaking countries and franchise litigation. The gamut of Robberson’s practice encompasses jurisdictional and forum related issues, judgment enforcement against domestic and foreign defendants, as well as alter ego and successor liability litigation. A growing area of her practice is providing business owners and executives alter ego/corporate veil piercing audit services in light of the growing risk to assets of individual business owners resulting from lawsuits against their companies. Robberson’s accomplishments include a published opinion before the California Court of Appeal and expert witness testimony before the Beit Din, the West Coast Rabbinical Court, on the issue of business practices related to the construction industry. She has presented at various Latin community-focused informational seminars and, in the past, co-hosted the “De Viva Voz” radio show on Univision’s Recuerdo 102.9 FM.

ALFA provides high quality, cost-efficient legal services wherever its clients need them. The organization’s model enables its members to use their local expertise to deliver highly effective legal solutions, drawing upon the collective wisdom and experience of other member firms. ALFA clients benefit from a geographically comprehensive network of exceptional law firms and accomplished trial and business counsel. Its member firms meet high standards to be part of the distinguished network and are well respected by their peers in the legal and business community. What sets ALFA apart is that the member firm attorneys know each other well, thereby ensuring accountability, responsiveness, reliability and top notch legal services throughout the country and the world for their respective client referrals.

“I’ve been involved in ALFA for five years and was attracted to the organization because of the people and incredible opportunity to market to potential clients all over the world,” said Robberson. “I’m thrilled to accept this new role and collaborate with other board members to maximize ALFA’s opportunities.”
