Emily Garson brings nearly two decades of courtroom experience to HFM’s Family Law Practice.

Prior to joining the firm, Emily served as a Deputy City Attorney, where she litigated over thirty jury trials involving domestic violence, child abuse, and stalking – experience that informs her approach to high-conflict family law matters.

As part of the San Diego City Attorney’s office, Emily led and mentored a team of prosecutors, overseeing case strategy, investigations, and trial preparation. She supervised all aspects of case management from initial investigation through trial, including discovery, witness preparation, and strategic settlement discussions.

Through her work, Emily built strong partnerships with law enforcement, developed training programs on stalking prosecutions, and advocated for survivors of human trafficking through vacatur relief efforts. Her experience also includes managing the Veteran’s Treatment Court, where she assisted military veterans with legal challenges resulting from service-related trauma.
