Higgs Staff supports the Ronald McDonald House
As part of the continued celebration of our 75th Anniversary and our commitment to give back to the community, Higgs Fletcher & Mack had the pleasure of sponsoring a dinner and presenting a $3,000 contribution to the Ronald McDonald House on October 14, 2014. The firm’s sponsorship provided about 200 meals to families of children currently receiving care at Rady Children’s Hospital.
The evening was a huge success with a dynamic team of Higgs volunteers helping to prepare and serve a delicious dinner. Volunteers included Lisa Berry, Pamala Flores, Kate Johnson, Joanna Jones, Karin Kirby, Regina Knoll, Cynthia Morgan-Reed and her husband John Reed, Greg Pyke, Dawn Richardson, Laura Ridge-Cosby, Alessandra Savan, Christine Stansall, Pearo Tep, AnnaLisa Trautwein, Randal Westbury, and alumni Leah Carpentier and Lynn Smorada. In addition, maestro Randal Westbury added to the special ambience of the evening by donating his considerable musical talent on the piano and providing a wonderful selection of music. The arts and crafts table, manned by Cynthia Morgan-Reed and John Reed, offered a project of beaded Halloween necklaces for the children. Balloon artists, Tania and Mari Judy, generously offered their talent and supplies to create balloon sculptures for the children. Chuck Day, President and CEO, presented the Higgs staff with the official Ronald McDonald red and white stripped socks in celebration of the Ronald McDonald House 40th anniversary.
The Ronald McDonald House offers complimentary lodging, tutoring for siblings, laundry, computer rooms, entertainment center and other services to the family of patients receiving health care at Rady Children’s Hospital. These tremendous services help reduce the financial burden for families during an already stressful time in their lives.
A special thanks goes out to Laura Ridge-Cosby for coordinating the dinner and the evening’s entertainment. This event exemplifies the Higgs Family’s volunteer spirit and commitment to a better San Diego.
