Peter Doody moderated at the Transportation Learning Institute
Peter Doody recently moderated/presented a session at the Transportation Lawyers Association’s 46th Annual Transportation Learning Institute in Los Angeles, California. Titled “I Get Around: Comp, Cargo, & Cabotage Cross-Border – Transportation Issues,” this was an in-depth presentation of trucking and transportation cross-border legal issues, including a discussion of the state of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s current “Long Haul Pilot Program.” This program allows Mexico domiciled motor carriers to operate beyond traditional commercial zones and throughout the United States. The presentation also addressed the use of foreign drivers by domestic carriers, workers’ compensation liability for foreign drivers, and the application of the Carmack Amendment to cross-border transportation cargo claims.
