Attorney Laurel Garcia practices as a part of HFM’s Appeals & Writs Practice Group.
Ms. Garcia assists in drafting and editing the Appellant’s and Respondent’s Briefs and Petitions for Writ of Mandate, conducting legal research, and drafting law and motion documents for ongoing litigation.
During law school, Ms. Garcia gained valuable experience as a Judicial Extern for California Court of Appeal Associate Justice Martin N. Buchanan and a Judicial Extern for United States District Court Judge John A. Houston. She also served as a Law Clerk at Higgs Fletcher & Mack and at a local litigation firm.
Ms. Garcia graduated Magna Cum Laude from California Western School of Law in 2024. She served as an associate writer and associate editor of the California Western Law Review Journal. She authored the article “The Rise of the Resistance: Evaluating California’s Approach to Restorative Justice Practices in Public Education,” published in the California Western Law Review. In law school, she also received an academic excellence scholarship, earned thirteen Academic Excellence Awards, and placed first in the school’s oral argument competition, earning her a Distinguished Advocate Award.
Before earning her law degree, Ms. Garcia earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California San Diego. She is actively involved in the Federal Bar Association, Lawyers Club of San Diego, and the San Diego County Bar Association.
