HFM Partner AnneElise Goetz specializes in real estate, finance and health care law, representing purchasers and sellers in structuring, negotiating and drafting acquisitions and dispositions of multifamily, manufactured housing communities, hotels, restaurants and other commercial projects.

Ms. Goetz also advises lenders and borrowers on real estate financing transactions, including acquisition, development and construction loans. Additionally, she assists clients with transactions involving medical practice groups and physician-hospital affiliations. She represents both buyers and sellers of health care businesses and professional practice interest. She also assists medical practice groups with their formation and continued governance requirements.

Ms. Goetz also serves as outside corporate counsel to small and mid-size market companies. She represents them in connection with various business transactions, including entity selection, mergers and acquisitions, employment matters, buy-sell agreements, corporate governance and general business counseling. She received the San Diego Business Journal’s “Best of the Bar” in 2015 and the San Diego Daily Transcript’s “Young Attorney” award in both 2011 and 2012.

In addition to her traditional legal practice, Ms. Goetz serves as an on-camera legal expert on national television shows. She regularly appears on HLN to provide legal commentary on a range of topics, including current cases in the media. She has appeared in publications, such as this People In Your Neighborhood feature in the Point Loma/OB Monthly regarding her career and the work she does in the community.

In her free time, Ms. Goetz supports organizations focused on empowering young women to seek leadership roles in the fields of law, government and business. She is the past Chair of Lawyers Club’s Leadership Development Committee, which works to place women on boards and commissions, develop their leadership skills and cultivate future civic leaders. She is also active on various committees in Run Women Run, an organization which works to break down the barriers that prevent women from participating in the political process.

Ms. Goetz is a graduate of the LEAD San Diego’s IMPACT program, an organization dedicated to educating the leaders of San Diego on the issues and challenges impacting the San Diego region.

Originally from the Midwest, Ms. Goetz attended the University of Wisconsin Madison, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. In 2016, she was one of eight alumni recognized with the Forward under 40 Award by the University of Wisconsin.  She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University, School of Law, in Cleveland. She was a member of the law school’s Niagara Moot Court Team and the recipient of the Saul S. Biskind Fellowship. Prior to joining HFM, she practiced corporate and tax law in Chicago. She is licensed to practice law in California and Illinois.
