SAN DIEGO (April 15, 2024): Higgs Fletcher & Mack (HFM) is proud to welcome attorneys Katherine A. Tuohy and Gabriela M. Vasquez to the firm’s Family Law practice group.

“Both Katherine and Gabriela bring a wide range of experience to their family law practices, and will be great additions to the HFM team,” said Jim Peterson, HFM’s Managing Partner. “We are proud to welcome Katherine and Gabriela to the firm as we continue to grow our family law practice group.”

Prior to becoming licensed in California, Tuohy served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Joseph N. Laplante of the United States District Court of New Hampshire. In this role, she conducted legal research and provided analysis and proposed dispositions for motions and proceedings in both criminal and civil cases. Additionally, she gained litigation experience as a student attorney for the New Hampshire Public Defender, assisting in representing criminal clients in all phases of felony and misdemeanor cases. Tuohy earned her law degree from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law in 2023, a Master of Arts degree in philosophy from American University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Salisbury University. Before transitioning to a career in the legal profession, Tuohy spent a decade working in nonprofit management and education.

Vasquez has been practicing family law exclusively since 2022. She represents high-net-worth individuals in dissolution actions and complex family law cases, and regularly consults with forensic accountants, prepares clients for mediation, and drafts marital settlement agreements. Previously, Vasquez practiced civil litigation, handling premise liability and product liability cases. She earned a Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California Irvine. She served as an intern for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Maria Elena James (ret.) of the United District Court of San Francisco. Currently, Vasquez sits on the Board of Directors for Wu Yee Children’s Services, a nonprofit organization and San Francisco’s largest Head Start and Early Head Start provider.
