HFM Partner Stephanie Pfaff has over a decade of experience working on various tax and real estate related transactions.

Her practice primarily focuses on transactional tax planning and real estate tax matters including all aspects of California documentary transfer tax and property tax, qualified opportunity zones, like-kind exchange transactions, and renewable energy tax credits. In addition, Stephanie’s practice includes advising tax-exempt and nonexempt nonprofit organizations and closely held businesses. Stephanie also advises clients in transactional tax and real estate matters for estate planning trusts and family-owned businesses.

Prior to joining HFM, Stephanie practiced at a global law firm DLA Piper LLP (US). Earlier in her career, she served as corporate counsel for The Corky McMillin Companies, a San Diego-based real estate developer. Through her experience, Stephanie is able to bring a unique client-side perspective to all matters, and the ability to analyze multiple issues surrounding her clients’ transactional needs.

Stephanie earned both a Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) degree and Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. She previously earned a Paralegal Certificate and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego.
