Written by:

Higgs Fletcher & Mack (HFM) is proud to welcome trial attorney Chandler Ciernia, effective July 19, 2021.

Ciernia’s litigation experience includes representing clients in personal injury matters, business litigation, and professional liability defense. A graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law, Ciernia was an Associate Writer and Editor of the San Diego Law Review and competed as a member of the school’s National Mock Trial Team. She was awarded the David S. Casey Trial Advocacy Scholarship for her achievements on the Mock Trial team and distinction in trial advocacy coursework. Ciernia was certified under the State Bar of California’s Practical Training of Law Students program as she was completing her final year of law school, which allowed her to litigate a credit deficiency case for a pro-bono client in the University of San Diego Civil Clinic.

“Chandler has great experience advocating on behalf of clients in various areas of law,” said Steve Cologne, HFM’s Managing Partner. “I am confident that Chandler will be a great addition to HFM’s litigation team.”

Ciernia recently authored an Ethics in Brief article for the San Diego County Bar Association titled “No Adverse Inferences May be Drawn from a Refusal to Disclose Attorney-Client Privileged Communication.”  Prior to attending law school, she earned a Bachelor of the Arts degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Colorado Boulder with a major in Political Science and a minor in Business Innovation. Ciernia is an active member of the San Diego County Bar Association and San Diego Defense Lawyers.
