SAN DIEGO (Dec. 21, 2023): Higgs Fletcher & Mack (HFM) is proud to welcome attorneys: Ofelia (Bella) Olmedo and Roxanna Palizi to the firm. Olmedo is a part of the firm’s Health Care and Transportation Law Practice Groups and Palizi has joined HFM’s Family Law Practice Group. Both attorneys began practicing at HFM earlier this month.

Olmedo is an experienced litigator and has defended skilled nursing facilities and administrators in a variety of elder abuse claims and claims for vicarious liability against affiliated corporate entities. She has provided counsel to hospitals, medical staffs, and physician groups on healthcare-related issues with a focus on bylaw and policy review, corrective action, medical staff credentialing and privileging, and fair hearing procedures. She has also advised health care providers on issues including anti-kickback, physician self-referral, privacy (HIPAA) and other laws and regulations. Olmedo earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from San Diego State University.

Palizi is a family law attorney, who gained experience earlier in her career as both an intern and post-bar law clerk for HFM’s Family Law Practice Group, prior to becoming a lawyer. Her experience also includes drafting motions for a variety of causes of actions and making court appearances on behalf of clients when she served as a Certified Law Clerk at a boutique family law firm. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she received a Law Faculty Achievement Scholarship, and she previously earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, San Diego.
