CBP recently announced the publication of an Interim Final Rule in the Federal Register that will automate Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Record to streamline the admissions process for individuals lawfully visiting the United States. The Form I-94 is the document that details a foreign national’s status in the United States and how long the person can remain in the United States pursuant to a lawful admission. The new rule, when implemented, means that visitors will no longer be required to fill out a paper Form I-94 when arriving to the United States. The admission documentation and information will be automated through electronic means. If the traveler wants to obtain a copy or other evidence of the I-94 based on the electronic submission they will need to print a copy at www.cbp.gov/I94.
