Ronald McDonald House Charities names Higgs Fletcher & Mack to “Wall of Honor”
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – October 29, 2013 – Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, a non-profit that provides a home away from home to families pursuing essential pediatric treatments at San Diego hospitals, recently inducted Higgs Fletcher & Mack onto its “Wall of Honor.”
The “Wall of Honor” recognizes companies that have contributed more than $25,000 in either services and/or monetary contributions.
Greg Pyke, partner at Higgs Fletcher & Mack, has spearheaded several initiatives and contributed an array of expertise to the Ronald McDonald House since 2000.
Pyke was a driving force behind the establishment of the current Ronald McDonald house located across from Rady Children’s Hospital. In 2009, Pyke’s efforts (as well as those of his law firm’s colleagues) made it possible to build and open the state-of-the art Ronald McDonald House with 47 guest rooms, pleasant outdoor courtyards, athletic facilities, computer lab and cheerful play spaces for children. This expansion quadrupled the capacity to house families and allowed the charity to open a Family Care Center for day visitors.
“We are so fortunate to have Higgs Fletcher & Mack as our legal partner, helping us navigate clearly and effectively as a not for profit organization,” said Chuck Day, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities. “The pro bono work of partner Greg Pyke and his team is extraordinary and vital to providing a home away from home for families with a child in medical crisis.”
Higgs Fletcher & Mack also selected Ronald McDonald House Charities as one of the organizations to benefit from its “7500 Hours of Service” campaign launching in 2014 to commemorate Higgs’ 75th anniversary. Members of Higgs will be volunteering at the House, as well as providing monetary contributions, to meet the goal of providing 7500 hours of community service during 2014.
